Student Resources

Students are an important part of transportation research at the University of Arizona. This page highlights resources available to students including information about fellowships and other funding opportunities.

Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program

The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) awards fellowships to students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines. This program advances the transportation workforce by helping to attract the nation's brightest minds to the field of transportation, encouraging future transportation professionals to seek advanced degrees, and helping to retain top talent in the U.S. transportation industry.

TRB Minority Student Fellowship

As a Hispanic Serving Institution, the University of Arizona is eligible for participation in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Minority Student Fellowship program. This program is administered through TRI with generous support from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Fellows are paired with a faculty mentor to produce a research paper that is presented at the TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The University of Arizona nomination process will be announced through TRI in early 2023. Check back for updates.

NITC Student Travel Support

The National Institute of Transportation and Communities (NITC) provides financial support to students at the University of Arizona to travel to domestic conferences and other events that will enhance their transportation-related education, research, and career development. Applications will be reviewed on the first of every month through July 2023 until funds have been expended. However, you are encouraged to apply for funding as soon as possible after learning of your planned attendance at a conference.
